Mahjong 101 A Beginner's Guide September 21st 6pm - 8pm

Learn American Mahjong ... Whether you're brand new to Mahjong or have always wanted to learn, East Coast Mahjong Society is ready to help you learn with confidence. This 2 hour workshop is perfect for complete beginners, recurring players, friends learning together or anyone looking for a new social hobby!

What you'll learn:

  • Tile Identificiation
  • Understanding the NMJL card
  • The Charleston
  • Building a Hand
  • Pungs, Kongs & Jokers Usage
  • Exposures vs. Concealed Hands
  • American Mahjong Etiquette
  • Gameplay & Strategy Basics

All mats, tiles, racks and dice will be provided. Each participant should bring to the workshop National Mahjong League 2026 cards for their own use. (Recommendation is to purchase the large cards.)
